Common Questions Answered

What is CBT Therapy?

CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It’s particularly effective for anxiety, depression, stress, and low mood. Through CBT, you’ll learn practical strategies to break unhelpful patterns and develop healthier coping skills. Sessions are collaborative, tailored to your needs, and available online or in Leeds.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help process traumatic or distressing memories. Using structured techniques like guided eye movements or other bilateral stimulation, EMDR can reduce the emotional intensity of past experiences. It’s especially helpful for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and intrusive memories, available online or in Leeds.

How long does therapy take?

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and needs. Some people benefit from a short-term course, while others may continue longer. During your initial consultation, we’ll discuss a plan that works for you.

How often are sessions?

Most clients attend weekly sessions, though some choose fortnightly appointments. We will agree on a schedule that suits your pace and personal circumstances.

How much does therapy cost?

Please see the Pricing page for up-to-date fees. Payment is required before each session. Cancellations within 24 hours may be charged at full price.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes! I offer secure online CBT and EMDR therapy sessions via video call, which is convenient if you live outside Leeds or prefer to attend from home.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. All sessions are completely confidential. Your personal information and clinical notes are stored digitally and securely, and will only be shared if legally required or with your consent (e.g., in emergencies or with other health professionals).

I'm nevous about starting therapy. What should I expect?

It’s normal to feel nervous. My approach is supportive, safe, and non-judgemental. We’ll take things at your pace, and you’ll have space to ask questions and express concerns. Many clients find that starting therapy is easier than they anticipated.

Can CBT or EMDR help with my specific issue?

CBT and EMDR are effective for a wide range of mental health concerns, including:

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Depression and low mood

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Stress and overwhelm

  • Low self-esteem

  • Phobias or intrusive thoughts

During your initial consultation, we’ll discuss which therapy or combination is most appropriate for you.

How do I book a session?

You can complete the online form to arrange a session or a free initial consultation. I offer therapy in Leeds or online, and I'll guide you through the process step by step.

Do you work with all ages?

I work with all ages and have a specialism in working with children and young people. My training involved learning how to deliver CBT to children and young people, and make the appropriate adaptations dependent on their chronological and developmental age. Since becoming accredited I have worked with children, young people and adults.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Cancellations made within 24 hours of the session may be charged at full price. Outside of this window, we can reschedule sessions at no extra cost.
